Equinix enables better database operations with Equinix Precision Time®, while also simplifying management by delivering managed IT solutions. 

Business transformation requires network transformation 

Panasonic Information Systems (IS), once the Panasonic Group’s internal IT division, has expanded to provide cloud-based database managed services to external clients. 

This shift required seamless, high-speed connectivity across multiple cloud platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, while also meeting Oracle’s rigorous certification standards. Achieving these standards called for advanced management capabilities, such as exact order sequencing and swift network activation. 

Simplifying IT while supercharging performance 

Equinix forms the core infrastructure for Panasonic IS to offer Oracle Exadata Managed Services. Using Equinix’s Tokyo data center and Equinix Fabric®, Panasonic IS built a network hub with direct, low-latency connectivity across multiple public cloud platforms, ensuring agile deployment and seamless integration with AWS, Azure and others. 

To enhance service delivery, Panasonic IS implemented Equinix Precision Time® for precise synchronization, critical for database operations. Equinix Managed Solutions minimize the expense and complexity of provisioning physical DNS and syslog servers. Meanwhile, Equinix managed servers provide advanced network monitoring, configuration support and shorter network infrastructure activation timelines. 

A backbone for reliability

Panasonic IS introduced Oracle Exadata Managed Services, leveraging its expertise in managing 25 Exadata systems and over 2,000 databases within Panasonic Group’s operations. Equinix serves as the backbone of this initiative, aligning with Panasonic Transformation (PX), the group’s strategy to modernize IT systems and business models.

Equinix ensures secure, high-speed connectivity while facilitating a seamless user experience for external customers. Additionally, Panasonic IS will utilize Equinix infrastructure for an upcoming disaster recovery plan, reinforcing operational continuity.
