Global Kiwi Labs’ flagship platform TheHUB is a robust, ultra-low-latency blockchain-enabled trading ecosystem designed to bring traditional finance (TradFi)-grade determinism and reliability to decentralized finance (DeFi) by leveraging Equinix’s high-performance trading hub data centers in Tokyo. TheHUB provides equalized microsecond-level latencies coupled with high-performance computing (HPC) and on-demand, on-premises compute: a paradigm shift for DeFi trading.
Equinix, as the leading data center provider for the capital markets sector, has created an environment that enables us to capture a vast number of potential validators and users.

The case for convergence
Electronic trading is always evolving. Over the last 30 years, the TradFi (financial services provided through banks, brokers and exchanges) ecosystem has matured to a point where capital inflow is driven by reliability, predictable performance and regulatory compliance. This enables market participants to compete through execution efficiency. In contrast, DeFi (digital financial services that connect users directly through blockchain) offers inbuilt transparency at a software level but is built on opaque infrastructure. DeFi needs TradFi-grade infrastructure and structured liquidity to bring about the next phase of growth. This is driving convergence of TradFi and DeFi, manifested in TheHUB.
“The TradFi exchanges have started to understand the promise of on-chain transitions, particularly the post-trade efficiency,” said Jamie Brown, CEO of Global Kiwi Labs. “The promise of blockchain-enabled trade is a revolution of the inefficient post-trade process from days to seconds, reducing risk, freeing up capital, and enabling markets to operate with unprecedented speed and efficiency.”
Volume in TradFi exchanges is driven largely by programmatic traders whose advanced algorithms can execute trades in nanoseconds or faster, making their front-end systems highly efficient and scalable. At its core, post-trade inefficiency is the consequence of a financial system built on delayed settlement: Every day between trade execution and final settlement introduces additional reconciliation, intermediaries, counterparty risk and capital costs. At the heart of this inefficiency is a decades-old market infrastructure built on siloed databases and disconnected systems, requiring extensive reconciliation to establish a single version of truth after each trade. An on-chain market achieves this result atomically in fractions of seconds.
TheHUB: Where DeFi meets institutional infrastructure
DeFi uses distributed ledger technology (DLT) to enable intermediary-free settlement, creating a transparent and efficient system that is rapidly growing as capital flows from TradFi and integration accelerates. Despite this, the ecosystem remains fragmented and has lacked TradFi-grade infrastructure. Trade execution can take seconds to tens of minutes, and reliance on retail liquidity can hand sophisticated traders speed advantages, raising fairness concerns and hindering institutional participation. To attract institutional liquidity, DeFi platforms must adopt TradFi-grade infrastructure, an approach realized by Global Kiwi Labs’ TheHUB.
TheHUB is a virtual asset trading ecosystem designed to bring TradFi’s fairness, speed and efficiency to DeFi. Strategically located within Equinix’s high-performance trading hub data center in Tokyo, it provides direct access to structured liquidity through proximity to the buy- and sell-side communities in Equinix. TheHUB brings together fair market access with atomic, instantaneous settlement, where trades execute and settle simultaneously, eliminating intermediaries and reducing systemic risk.
Market participants can colocate within TheHUB or connect via their existing presence at Equinix, placing it in the heart of 500+ buy- and sell-side firms. TheHUB’s network architecture ensures equidistant connectivity, providing readily available access to counterparties and fair access to new markets launched in TheHUB.
All participants, whether hosted directly in TheHUB or elsewhere in Equinix’s trading hub data centers, enjoy identical latency times through the 1 km “latency envelope,” ensuring automatic equalized microsecond-level access.
The convergence of TradFi and DeFi is no longer a distant vision—it is inevitable, and it is happening now. By combining institutional-grade infrastructure with decentralized transparency, TheHUB is redefining what financial markets can achieve.

Speed, fairness and a new financial paradigm
TheHUB significantly improves transaction speed and efficiency. Blocks on FOGO, a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain, can be created in as little as 40 milliseconds. With FOGO’s “Enshrined Order Book” built into the protocol, this leap from minutes to milliseconds enhances price discovery performance, tightening bid-ask spreads and boosting market confidence. “Price discovery is absolutely essential to trading. Although we can’t dictate the volume or liquidity in the market, TheHUB—leveraging Equinix’s infrastructure—ensures real-time pricing data reaches participants swiftly, empowering them to make investment decisions with confidence and clarity based on accurate valuations,” Brown said.
To enhance fairness, TheHUB plans to offer GPS time-stamping, enabling packet-level transparency. Orders can be reordered based on their true arrival times rather than on switch-level jitter. Configurable time-stamping tiers provide flexibility, while TradFi-grade multicast market data ensures all participants receive information simultaneously. Equinix has 280+ data centers and hosts much of the world’s electronic trading infrastructure, enabling Global Kiwi Labs to rapidly scale TheHUB’s global footprint and provide direct proximity to both TradFi institutions and DeFi innovators. Markets hosted in TheHUB are chosen based on criteria aligned with Global Kiwi Labs’ mature, highly regulated client base. For example, Ambient’s Dual Flow Batch Auction (DFBA) eliminates front-running, and BlinkEx brings tokenized futures with particular attention to elimination of avoidable risk.
This ultra-low-latency ecosystem has the potential to revolutionize virtual asset trading, enabling both DeFi and TradFi participants to operate with unprecedented speed and fairness. As this convergence accelerates, the result will pave the way to the creation of an entirely new financial paradigm, one that is faster, fairer and more inclusive than ever.
