Equinix, Inc. and its affiliates (“Equinix”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) are committed to respecting your privacy. All Equinix websites, like www.equinix.com, our mobile apps, and other online services use tracking technologies like cookies and tags. These help us gather information as outlined in our Privacy Statement. The ‘Cookies Preferences’ link at the bottom of the page provides details about our use of cookies, and lets you control which type of cookies the Equinix website may set on your device. Please read this Cookie Notice for more information on what cookies and pixel tags are, what they do, and how you can opt out of, manage, or delete them.
A cookie is a small data file that websites place on your hard drive when you visit them. Cookies are widely used to gather information about user browsing sessions. Certain types of cookies or cookie-like functionalities may be placed or activated through browser add-ons, such as Adobe Flash. While these cookies are stored differently, their functionality and purpose are similar to other cookies.
Other tracking technologies, such as pixel tags, may record information such as Internet domain and host names, IP addresses, browser software and operating system types, clickstream patterns, user journey/path analysis, abandon rates, conversion rates, and dates, times and durations during which sites, portals or applications are accessed and used.
We use cookies and other tracking technologies to analyze how our websites are used in order to make improvements to them, to personalize your browsing experience (including by offering you tailored help within a browsing session), or to serve advertising. You have choices in relation to the cookies which are used, as explained below.
The cookies collected are categorized as ‘Session Cookies’ and ‘Persistent Cookies’.
Session Cookies are used by the server to store information about user page activities. A session cookie acts as a “bookmark” within the site. They can store information about how you interact with the website or about your shopping cart to assist you in your ordering process. These cookies are stored for the duration of a browser session; when you close your browser, the cookie is deleted.
Persistent Cookies help websites remember your information and setting when you visit them in the future. A persistent cookie enables a website to remember you on subsequent visits, speeding up or enhancing your experience of the services or functions offered. These cookies are stored for a pre-set amount of time (often between 90 days and two years, depending on the application) and are typically not deleted when a browser session is closed.
Your choices may affect whether we use session or persistent cookies for a particular application. For example, ordinarily, our websites and portals store sign-in status on a session cookie, and each time you start a new browser session you must log in again. However, if you select “Remember My Username,” your username is instead stored on a persistent cookie.
Equinix’s websites and portals use four types of cookies, i.e. required/necessary cookies, functional cookies, performance cookies, and advertising cookies.
Required/necessary cookies are mainly technical cookies. These are necessary to enable core features of the website you are visiting, such as providing secure log-in, balance website traffic, allowing images to load, allowing you to select your cookie preferences and store your acceptance. Required/necessary cookies are essential for the website to function properly, and it is not possible to refuse these cookies.
Functional cookies are used to provide a better customer experience and ease of use of our website, such as by remembering your log-in details, language preferences, optimizing video performance, providing you information about how our website is used. Additionally, functional cookies allow us to analyze anonymized data to gain insight into how visitors use the website so that we can make improvements to its usability. Acceptance of functional cookies allow us also to gather feedback on customer satisfaction through our website survey. You can control the placement of functional cookies through the ‘Cookie Preferences’ link in the footer of our website.
Performance cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. Acceptance of these cookies allow us to know when you have visited our website and allow us to monitor our site’s performance. You can control the placement of performance cookies through the ‘Cookie Preferences’ link in the footer of our website.
Advertising cookies are optional cookies. We allow third-party advertisers to place and/or activate cookies, pixel tags, and/or other tracking technologies. These services can later use these cookies to build a profile of your interests based on the browsing information they collect from you, which includes uniquely identifying your browser and terminal equipment. This process helps us track the effectiveness of our marketing efforts and deliver advertising to you. These advertisement networks, in connection with cookies, pixel tags, and other tracking technologies: (i) help deliver online behavioral advertisements, either by us, our affiliates, or third parties; (ii) may prevent you from seeing the same advertisements too many times; and (iii) help us, our service providers, and/or our other partners (as further described below) understand the effectiveness of the advertisements that have been delivered to you.
Where available, cookie settings can be managed in the cookie banner displayed on our websites or via the ‘Cookie Preferences’ link at the bottom of the site. Here, you can accept all cookies, reject all non-required cookies, or choose which cookies to enable and disable.
In many cases you can also control tracking technologies using your browser. Different browsers offer different ways to configure your browser cookie settings. You can apply privacy settings based on your own privacy concerns. There are a number of ways to manage your cookies. You can clear cookies, prevent or block cookies, delete at your will, and for different circumstances. If you use different computers in different locations, you will need to ensure that each browser is adjusted to suit your cookie preferences.
If your web browser supports Global Privacy Control (GPC), you can configure your web browser to use GPC to opt-out of personal information “sale” or “sharing” as defined in under Applicable Laws. You can find more information on enabling GPC within web browsers at the following web site: https://globalprivacycontrol.org/.
Additionally, you can generally disable or delete cookies placed and used by browser add-ons, such as Adobe Flash cookies, by changing the add-on settings or visiting the website of its provider. Information and controls that allow you to manage Adobe Flash cookies may be found here. Note that if you disable Adobe Flash cookies or similar technologies, you may not have access to certain features and services (such as consistent volume settings for videos) that make your online experience more efficient and/or enjoyable.
With respect to Google Analytics, Google has developed the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which can be downloaded here. The add-on provides website users more choice on how their data is collected by Google Analytics.
Please know, though, that if you choose to delete or block your cookies, you may lose the ability to save certain preferences, or access credentials such as your username and password, and have to reenter them each time. Disabling or removing cookies, resetting your advertising identifier, or opting out of online behavioral advertising altogether (as applicable) may also result in advertising that is repetitive or less relevant to you.
We provide social media buttons on our websites that allow users to visit or share web pages through third-party social media platforms. We are not responsible for third party cookies or tracking technologies and we do not control how those platforms collect information about you, nor whether or how they may track you or may activate their own cookies on your device.
For more information about how third parties collect and use information about your activities, please review their applicable Terms of Use, Cookie Notices, and/or Privacy Policies.
We may update this Cookie Notice from time to time. We encourage you to review this notice periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies.
If you have any questions or concerns about this Cookie Notice or our use of cookies, please contact us at Data&PrivacyOffice@equinix.com.
