Through Smart Hands™, Equinix provides IBX customers with experienced, on-site technical personnel to provide maintenance, installation and assistance with equipment in Equinix IBX® centers to help keep your operations running smoothly.
Your Hands and Eyes of Remote Management
Smart Hands can be invaluable in providing a rapid response to basic maintenance duties for a fraction of the cost of sending your own personnel. Smart Hands services range from power cycling equipment or reading an indicator light, to card swapping or performing emergency equipment replacement. On-site services include installation and maintenance of customer equipment.

- On-site/off-site technical assistance and troubleshooting
- Tape Backup: Cassette exchange and strongbox storage, retrieval and transport
- Equipment installations and configurations
- Ladder racking, pre-wiring of patch panels and equipment
- Interface card removal, installation and configuration
- Administrative operations on UNIX, SUN, CISCO, NT/98/2000, Foundry etc.
- Testing carrier circuits
- Assembling, installing and maintaining cabling
- Relaying status of equipment and typing appropriate UNIX commands
- Verify cable integrity on installed media
- Testing media for continuity and proper signaling
- Providing visual verifications to assist in remote troubleshooting
- Inventorying of equipment, recording digital pictures and recording serial numbers
