EQUINIX INTERNET EXCHANGE

Equinix Internet Exchange is a service that enables companies to interconnect their networks to move data to their end destinations in an efficient and reliable manner.

Equinix Internet Exchange facilitates interconnection and peering via an Ethernet central switching fabric. It is used by many of the Internet companies operating within Equinix IBX centers, including: network service providers (such as ISPs, carriers, international PTTs and broadband networks), as well as content, e-commerce and enterprise companies delivering video, gaming or other applications.

The service offers an alternative to the traditional method of purchasing costly transit to reach partners across the Internet. By enabling data to bypass intermediary networks, Equinix Internet Exchange delivers enhanced end-to-end network performance, speed, and reliability, while lowering overall IP transit costs.

Global Roaming Exchange Peering at Equinix (GPE)

Equinix operates the Global Roaming Exchange (GRX) in the Singapore and DC Metro IBX centers. Currently, Equinix operates two out of the three GRX peering points that exist in the world––one in Amsterdam (AMS-IX) and the other two in the SG1 and DC Metro IBX centers.

The GRX Peering at Equinix (GPE) is a resilient, fully-managed, Ethernet-based switching platform designed specifically for exchange of mobile Internet traffic. The switching platform has a redundant architecture designed for improved resiliency and greater port density. The service is available for all GRX operators and/or other qualified customers that are colocated within the Equinix Singapore or DC Metro IBX that wish to exchange mobile Internet traffic with their peer of choice.
